Mabel Grace Tenney of Adrian, died Monday, April 30, 2012, in Serenity Care Home in Buckhannon where she was a resident.
She was born Dec. 22, 1914, at Gem, Braxton County, a daughter of the late John Levie and Truda Keller Dean.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Denver M. Tenney, who died in 1982.
She is survived by two sons, H. Loren "Hank" Tenney and wife, Evelyn Kay, of Nashville, Tenn., and Stanley Tenney and wife, Lorietta, of Tallmansville: eight grandchildren, Steve Tenney, Stacey Tenney, Christopher and wife, Diane Tenney, Kevin and wife, Ronay Tenney, Sonia Bailey-Gibson and husband, Bill, Sophia and husband, Mike Lowther, Shellia Bailey and Sherrlia Bailey; and eight great-grandchildren, Andrew and Laura Tenney, Allyson, Kristin and Megan Tenney, John Samuel Lowther, Bailey and Brock Gibson.
Also surviving are one brother, Samuel "Dick" Dean; and three sisters: Mae McQuain and husband, Bill, Mary Tretinik and Rosalie Steele.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Janet Kay Bailey; five brothers, Leonard Hopkins, Howard Dean and wife, Mayme, Hayward Dean, Arden "Buck" Dean and wife, Dora, Junior Dean; one sister, Dora Dean Taylor and husband, Bud Taylor; and brother-in-law, Fred Steele.
She was a member of Adrian United Methodist Church, former member of the Adrian Fire Dept. Auxiliary, co-operator of Adrian Thrift Shop and a homemaker. She loved quilting, reading, gardening and spending time with her family and friends.
Friends will be received at Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel today from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 3, at 10 a.m. at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Robert F. Heavner officiating. Interment will follow in Upshur County Memorial Park.
