Burla F. Loudin, 97, of Route 2, French Creek, the Evergreen Community, died Friday, May 4, 2012, at New Hope Room and Board of Hodgesville.
She was born Feb. 4, 1915, in Upshur County, a daughter of the late Asa and Hannah Victoria Smallridge Fitzgerald.
She was united in marriage on Dec. 3, 1946, to Thomas Mooney, who preceded her in death in February, 1959. She was also preceded in death on July 2, 1972, by her second husband, Rex P. Loudin, whom she married on May 7, 1966.
She is survived by one stepson, Larry Loudin of Conway, S.C., and one stepdaughter, Jerry Lou Loudin of Cincinnati, Ohio; four step grandchildren, Vickie Shields, David Loudin, Sara Thomas and Daniel Loudin; six step great grandchildren, Chelsie Wilfong, Katie Wilfong and Hannah, Jessie, Joshua, and Olivia Loudin; five step great-great grandchildren, Mason, Gavin and Rhiannon Shields, Hunter Jane and Levi Daniel Staley; and five nieces, Betty Cardone, Mary Lou Jones, Lois Fitzgerald, Patty Daugherty and Judy Fitzgerald.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, Earl, Lawrence, Dennis, French, Floyd and Gordon Fitzgerald; two sisters, Blanche and Mabel Fitzgerald; two nieces, Mabel Christopher and Deloris Mizala; and three nephews: Harold, Sam, and Bill Fitzgerald
Burla was a member of the Waterloo United Methodist Church, the Rock Cave Aletha Chapter 82 Order of the Eastern Star, and the Alton CEOS Club.
Friends will be received at Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, from 4 until 7 p.m. The visitation will conclude with services conducted by Order of the Eastern Star, Aletha Chapter 82, beginning at 6:45 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Nancy Killingsworth and Pastor Kara Phillippi officiating. Interment will follow in the Center Chapel Cemetery.
