Mrs. Virginia E. "Gin" Varner, 93, a resident of Citra, Fla., and Gassaway, passed away May 2, 2012, in Timber Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation in Ocala, Fla.
She was born Aug. 1, 1918, at Whitmer, a daughter of the late Samuel Oscar and Virgie May Summerfield Nelson.
She is survived by three daughters, Hallie "Holly" Franks and Irene Varner, both of Clarksburg and Elsie "Lisa" and her husband, Tom Ballard, of Ocala, Fla.; three grandchildren, Tom Ballard Jr., Theresa Ballard Mercadante and Michelle Bishop Gillespie: five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Jean Weese of Mill Creek and Mary Miller of Canton, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oca Varner; daughter, Jessie Varner Bishop; and numerous brothers and sisters.
Graveside services were conducted Saturday in Sugar Creek Cemetery at Gassaway with the Rev. Jim Criner officiating.
Arrangements were by Richard M. Roach Funeral Home in Gassaway.
