The Wild West is coming to Buckhannon for the premiers of the Horse and Carriage Parade at 5 p.m. Saturday.
Horses will be the theme of the days as a variety of horses will be pulling unique carriages in this exciting family event.
Beginning at 10 a.m., there will be horses featured with and without riders as the following events take place in downtown Buckhannon: roping demonstrations, horse tooth floating demonstrations, horseshoeing demonstrations, Western whip acts, a Western shootout, pony rides, horse and carriage rides and stagecoach rides for those who want to experience the Western theme planned for all ages.
Musicians will be featured along both sides of Main Street during the day, with open-case performances. CEO clubs will be showcased as they provide their crafts and food items for sale.
Now is the time to plan to be in Buckhannon for this premiere event organized by the West Virginia Strawberry Festival Committee, which promises to be the beginning of a week with "An Exciting Family Tradition."
The Queen's Ball will be held Friday, and the Horse and Carriage Parade and Wild West activities are set Saturday. The Mother's Day celebration will be held Sunday, including a feast from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Mother's Day ceremonies will begin at 5 p.m., followed by a Gospel music concert.
The horse pull has been moved to 1 p.m. Sunday at the Bennett Farm.
