Members of the Shanty Town Circus will perform several times during the West Virginia Strawberry Festival this week in Buckhannon.
Debuting in 2012, Shanty Town Circus brings juggling, acrobatics, music, hoops arts, fire arts, clowning and miming together. Each member brings a special skill to the troupe: O'Ryan began juggling eight years ago while traveling internationally, and has recently participated with educational and performance groups such as Some Kinda Circus and Slackline Pittsburgh. His repertoire of skills now ranges from acro-balance to miming, musical skits to unicycling and beyond.
Rene is a talented hoop artist, costume designer and makeup artist. Not only does she create on-of-a-kind hoop routines, but she also manufactures her own hoops.
Raedio began playing violin 16 years ago and went on to study violin music education at Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C. During the past four years, she's worked to combine her music education with performance art. Her latest works range from original solo musical pieces to miming and juggling.
Shanty Town Circus also features guest performers from the region, as well as traveling performers.
This troupe of entertainers will participate in the Grand Feature Parade on Saturday, which begins at 1 p.m.
