Mr. William Lee "Uncle Bill" Sturm, 71, a resident of Belington, departed this life on May 16, 2012, at the home of his nephew and niece, Timothy and Joan Sturm, where he most recently resided. He had been in declining health for several months and was under the care of Mountain Hospice and Home Town Care of Belington.
"Uncle Bill" was born Feb. 12, 1941, at Belington, a son of the late Jack P. and Helen McDonald Sturm.
He was twice married, in 1961, he was united in marriage to the former Phyllis Talbott, who preceded him in death, and then in 1980, he was married to the former Barbara Archer, who survives.
Uncle Bill is survived by four children, Valerie and Tammy, both of Texas, and Lisa and William "Billy" Jr., both of Delaware. He is survived by three brothers, Frederick A. Sturm of Pennsylvania, Stephen P. Sturm and wife, Glenna, and Timothy R. Sturm and wife, Opal, all of Belington. He is also survived by his grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Jack Lynn, Roger, Victor and James "Jimbo" Sturm; and one sister, Donna Sturm Stuart. Also preceding him in death were two sisters-in-law, Liz and "Butch" Sturm.
Uncle Bill enjoyed shooting pool, fishing and hunting and going to the Laurel Mountain Inn Restaurant in Belington to fellowship with his friends.
Friends will be received from Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, and on Sunday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m., the funeral hour, when services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jimmie Tallman officiating. Interment will follow in Knights of Pythias Cemetery at Weaver.
