Melvin Ray Hunt, 57, of Route 1, French Creek, Frenchton community, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at his home.
He was born Dec. 9, 1954, and was preceded in death by his parents, Arland Ray Hunt and Bertie Francis Sayre Hunt Gillespie; and a sister, Norma Jean Bennett Shively.
Surviving are his children, Amanda Hunt of Buckhannon and Michael Hunt of Belington; three grandchildren, Bryce and Gabriel Moran and Trenton Harris and fiancee, Nora Cole, of Frenchton; brother, Garry Sayre and wife, Nora, of Big Run; sister, Charlotte Hunt Jones and husband, Charles, of Weirton; and several nieces and nephews.
Melvin had been an employee for Kroger for more than 38 years. He taught guitar and mechanics. He enjoyed playing the guitar, music, singing and was mechanically inclined and artistic. Melvin was a Baptist by faith.
The family will receive family and friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, at Tomblyn Whitescarver Funeral Chapel, where services will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Jessie officiating. Burial will follow in Upshur County Memorial Park in Tennerton.
