The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a flash flood watch from noon today through this evening.
The watch was issued for portions of norteast Kentucky, southwest Virginia and West Virginia. In the Mountain State the wacth covers Randolph, Upshur, Barbour, Pocahontas, Lewis, Braxton, Boone, Cabell, Clay, Fayette, Harrison, Kanawha, Lincoln, Logan, McDowell, Mingo, Nicholas, POutnam, Raleigh, Taylro, Wayne, Webster and Wyoming counties.
The watch states that showes and thunderstorms will be very slow moving which will allow for heavy rainfall amounts and if several storms move over the same area flash flooding could result. Rainfaill could be in excess of 1.5 to 2 inches in an hour.
