Robert Allman

Robert M. "Mike" Allman, 60, of Route 1, Buckhannon, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at his home.

He was born May 23, 1951, in Lewis County, a son of Robert D. Allman and the late Lou Jeanne Stalnaker Allman.

Also preceding him in death was his daughter, Marcella Dawn Allman.

Surviving are his wife, Diane L. Smith Allman, who he married on Aug. 11, 1972; his father, Robert and wife, Sammie Allman, of Lorentz; two sons, Robert M. Allman II of Buckhannon and Jesse L. Allman and wife, Heather; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Brown, Robert M. Allman III, Gavin L. Allman, Jeremy W. Allman and Tyler M. Allman; brother, William 'Bill' Allman and wife, Sharon; and sister, Sharon Tomblyn and husband, Jim, all of Lorentz; and several nieces and nephews and many friends, especially his best friend, Huey.

Mr. Allman was retired from the U.S. Postal Service, where he was a rural carrier and part of the National Stewards Taskforce. He was a state steward for 16 years and two years as state president for the WVRLCA. Also during his career, he was a rural carrier manager/officer in charge of Belington, Jane Lew and Ireland. Mr. Allman was also part of the Quality of Work Life District Joint Steering Committee. In his time as a state steward, he helped many rural carriers throughout the state and will be missed by all.

Mike graduated from Buckhannon-Upshur High School in 1969 and was inducted into the school's Hall of Fame. He graduated from Glenville State College, where he was member of the TKE fraternity. Mike spent a lot of time coaching soccer and wrestling through his children's younger years and had refereed soccer in Buckhannon. He was a Methodist by faith.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Tomblyn Whitescarver Funeral Chapel in Buckhannon, where services will be Friday, May 25, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Robert Heavner officiating. Burial will follow in Lorentz Cemetery.
