Birdie Mae Isch McCauley, 103, a resident of 105 East Crim Ave, in Belington, went home to be with the Lord at 5:04 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at her home while being cared for by Hospice Care and her son, Arthur, and her son, Alfred, who was also by her side. Arthur had retired in 2004 to care for his mother.
She was born July 10, 1908, at Wildcat in Lewis County, a daughter of the late George Grant Butcher and Mary Elizabeth Pickens Butcher.
In 1940. she was united in marriage to Benjamin Franklin Isch, who preceded her in death in 1949. In 1951, she was united in marriage to John Franklin McCauley, who preceded her in death in 1960.

She is survived by two sons, Arthur Dewayne Isch and Alfred Isch and wife, Elizabeth Collier Isch, all of Belington; and three stepchildren, Mabel Isch Spiker, Nellie Isch Lake and Rose Isch, all of Ohio. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Holly Isch Holbert, Kelly Isch Holbert and Alfred Isch Jr., all of Bridgeport, Jerry Jordan, Agnes Jordan Cogar and Cindy Jordan Sprouse; and 13 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Betty Snyder Jordan and infant daughter, Mary Carol Isch; one son, Carl Daniel Isch; and stepson, Frank Isch. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by six sisters, Ada Butcher, Mary Butcher, Welthy Butcher Lake, Alice Buther Gillis, Goldie Butcher McCauley and Columbia Butcher Davis.
She had attended the schools of Lewis County and was a homemaker. Birdie was a wonderful woman whose primary concern was caring for her family. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, sewing, cooking, farming and reading her Bible. She was a caregiver for many, always concerned with others. She truly had a servant's heart and will be sadly missed.
Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home, 210 Brandenburg St. in Belington from 6 to 9 p.m. today and again on Friday from 8 to 10 a.m. the funeral hour when final rites will be conducted from Talbott Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Frank Collier officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Pickens.
