Betty Fox, 81, a resident of Cassity, entered into eternal rest Saturday evening, May 26, 2012, at Elkins Rehabilitation Care Center surrounded by her family.
Betty was born Aug. 19, 1930, in Upshur County, a daughter of the late John Hodges and Fannie Currence Hodges.
Betty was an active member of the Cassity United Methodist Church. There she was a Sunday school teacher and a song leader. Betty and her husband Lawrence won several Jack and Jill competitions at the annual Mountain State Forest Festival. She enjoyed gardening, reading and canning.
On Sept. 3, 1948, at Oakland, Md., she married Lawrence Fox, who survives at Cassity. They had celebrated 63 years of marriage.
She is also survived by two daughters, Sue Fox and Ann Rossi, both of Cassity; and one son, Patrick and wife, Mary, of Belington; three grandchildren, Jessica Fox and companion, David Hazer, of East Dailey, Nick Rossi, and wife, Kelley, of Michigan, and Mendy Williams, and husband, Jerry, of Eleanor; four great-grandchildren, Jasmine and Jade Hazer, and Jacob and Madison Rossi; and one brother, Eugene Hodges of Farmdale Ohio.
Preceding her in death are two sisters, Mazie Fox and Jane Ellen Zirkle; five brothers, Hull, Elmer, Chuck, Nobel and John.
Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home and Cremations Services on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held from the funeral home chapel on Thursday, May 31, 2012, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Stella Faye Moyer will officiate and interment will follow at the Cassity Church Cemetery.
Arrangements for Mrs. Fox have been entrusted to the Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 100 Meadow Lane, Valley Bend.
