Betty Jean Satterfield Sheets Calain, passed away Friday afternoon, May 25, 2012, in peace, at her home on Country Oaks Farm at Gilman.
She was born Oct. 16, 1930, a daughter of the late Thomas G. and Nellie Twigg Satterfield.
She was twice married, first on Aug. 15, 1949, to George C. Sheets, who preceded her in death April 15, 1996.

On May 3, 2001, she was married to Jack L. Calain, who survives at Gilman. Also surviving is one daughter, Cynthia A. Sheets Calain of Gilman; one daughter-in-law, Bonnie Sheets, of Ashville, N.C.; and two very special sisters-in-law, Mrs. Mick Hazelett and Mrs. Catherine Mullins, both of Elkins; two beloved grandchildren, Christopher George Calain and wife, Brittani, of Morgantown, and Sarah Ann Calain Emerick and husband, Jacob, of Hyndman, Pa.; one great grandson, Brayden Parker Emerick; and many wonderful nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive.
Also preceding her in death were one beloved son, Richard C. Sheets; and son-in-law, Thomas L. Calain; two beloved sisters, Evelyn and Dorothy; four brothers, William, Raymond, Ralph and Roy Satterfield; and two sisters-in-law, Glenna Sheets Johnson and Martha Sheets Gordon.
Mrs. Calain attended the schools of Randolph County and was a graduate of Elkins High School with the Class of 1948. She was employed by Davis Trust Company of Elkins for 31 years until her retirement in 1991 as a Loan Officer in the Installment Loan Department. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elkins and a former member of the Ladies Circle and was a Life Charter member of the Beta Sigma Phi Master Chapter. Mrs. Calain loved and enjoyed her family and friends; she loved to read and enjoyed her animals and her time spent at home on the farm.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. On Thursday, May 31, Mrs. Calain will be moved to the First United Methodist Church for visitation from noon to 1 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday from the church with Rev. Barry Moll and Rev. Dr. Basil A. Hensley officiating. Interment will follow at Elkins Memorial Gardens, Country Club Road, Elkins.
