Karen Faye Nuzum Adams, 63, a resident of Route 1, Philippi, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, in United Hospital Center.

She was born March 13, 1949, at Philippi, a daughter of the late Rex and Eva P. Barker Nuzum.

Karen was united in marriage, on Sept. 18, 1977, to Randall B. Adams, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Christine Yocum and companion, Philip Mullenax, of Philippi and Jennifer Poling and husband, Roger, of Moatsville; three sisters, Cheryl Crouse and husband, Junior and Agnes Murphy and husband, Doug, both of Philippi and Betty Oakes and husband, John, of Charleston; sister-in-law, Doris Nuzum of Philippi; six grandchildren, Randall Paul and MacKenzie Carleen Yocum, Remington Douglas Mullenax, Kelsie May Lewis and Abigaile Ann Poling; and several nieces and nephews.

Karen was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Karen Diane "KD" Yocum; and two brothers, Darious and Elbert Nuzum.

She worked as a para professional accountant for Toothman-Rice Accounting in Clarksburg. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and catering. Karen was a member of the Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church.

Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St. in Philippi today from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, June 2, from 8 to 10 a.m., the service hour with Pastor Howard Swick officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.
