The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 29 in Elkins will host a Thirty-one Bingo as a fundraiser for its various programs at 1 p.m. June 9.
The auxiliary supports many veteran projects. Every year, with the help of other organizations, the auxiliary sends the Veterans Affairs hospitals in the state several comfort items for hospitalized veterans. During the years, the auxiliary has donated to the Chaplain of 4 Chapels, the USO, the Salvation Army, the Special Olympics, the Veterans Memorial in Washington, the Love Blanket and the National Veterans Creative Arts Center. The American Legion Auxiliary also helps support Rhododendron Girls State every year. The group also donates money that is used to set up Christmas gift shops and special functions that take place at the VA hospitals.
These programs cannot be supported without support from the community. The tickets for the Thirty-one Bingo can be purchased from the Post Home on Railroad Avenue in Elkins, at Erickson's and from various members of the Auxiliary. There will be numerous other raffles throughout the duration of the bingo function. Anyone with questions can call Auxiliary President Danielle Hedrick at 304-591-4696.
