The Buckhannon Choral Society will release a new CD of its fall concert repertoire, entitled "Simple Gifts."
The CD features many familiar Thanksgiving hymns and traditional American Folk Tunes, including "How Firm a Foundation," "All Creature of Our God and King," "When the Saints Go Marching In," "Simple Gifts," "Shenandoah," "Battle Hymn of the Republic" and many more.
The recording also includes a popular major work titled "American Mass," written by Ron Kean. The choir is accompanied by a small orchestra and pianist Jeanne DeFoe.
The Buckhannon Choral Society is a nonprofit corporation organized for the purpose of providing public performances of choral music in the Buckhannon area. Live music concerts are presented for the enjoyment, enhancement and promotion of the arts for the citizens of this region of West Virginia.
The Buckhannon Choral Society is operated under the auspices of a volunteer Board of Directors comprised of group members and interested community members. The Buckhannon Choral Society receives annual financial support from the Upshur Arts Alliance and an annual fund initiative for individuals and businesses to provide support. The group wishes to thank everyone who has supported the efforts of the choir. The choir is accompanied by DeFoe and is under the direction of Stephen Benson.
The CD will be sold at Diane's Hallmark Store and Main Street Gallery in Buckhannon.
