Keplinger, Rogers head Class AA list

Petersburg's Kaitlyn Keplinger and Philip Barbour's Lauren Rogers headline the list of area players selected to the Class AA All-State softball team released by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association on Wednesday.

Keplinger was selected to the first team, while Rogers was a second team pick.

Keplinger helped lead the Lady Vikings to a 23-9 record this season. The freshman outfielder batted .426 with 25 RBIs.

Rogers, a senior outfielder, was also an All-State selection in both basketball and volleyball this year.

Rogers has signed to play volleyball at Alderson-Broaddus College in the fall.

Keplinger's teammate, Brittani Bible, was named to the special honorable mention team.

The Lady Vikings' Melissa Sharp was a honorable mention selection and was joined by Philip Barbour's Emilee Anglin and Faith Cline.

Joining Keplinger on the first team were Tori Tharp (Magnolia), Jessie Rowe (Wayne), Meghan Anderson (Keyser), Kelsey Waggoner (Ritchie County), Allison Rager (Herbert Hoover), Jessica Watts (Wayne), Cassidy Ray (Ritchie County), Kelly Hall (Roane County), Jacey Parsons (Wayne), Bekah Baldwin (Sissonville), Katie Snodgress (Shady Spring), Charity Ramsey (Braxton County), Allison Evans (Chapmanville), Allison Winans (Lincoln), Dee Dee Loftis (Sissonville), Allison Delancey (Ritchie County) and Madi McGrew (Poca). Delancey was named captain of the first team.

Second team selections include: Kelci Jones (Independence), Taylor Bragg (Braxton County), Tori May (Sherman), Kelsie Thompson (Liberty), Lexi Lawrence (Herbert Hoover), Michelle Snodgress (Shady Spring), Heather Nagy (Chapmanville), Sam Hoban (Keyser), Mackenzie Smith (Sherman), Haley Hunter (James Monroe), Vanessa Tallman (Ritchie County), Jenna Evans (Chapmanville), Sami Elder (Lincoln), Mallory Chapman (Magnolia), Teala Holmberg (Grafton), Marissa Bosley (Magnolia), Kayla Adams (Wayne).
