FAIRMONT?- Buckhannon Post 7 suffered their first loss of the 2012 campaign Wednesday night, falling 4-1 in a road tilt at Fairmont Post 17.
Despite some effective pitching from Corey Reed and Nathan Matthews, Buckhannon came up short to the Marion Countians.
"Due to several different situations, we were a bit shorthanded tonight," Buckhannon head coach Jeff Reed said. "We held them down for the most part, but we never really got out offense going."
Fairmont scored single runs in the second and third, and closed the deal with a pair of runs in the fifth. Fairmont's effective pitching kept Post 7 at bay as they could not score after the first inning.
Corey Reed pitched the first three innings for Buckhannon, with Nathan Matthews also twirling three innings. Each pitcher only allowed a pair of runs in what turned out to be a losing cause.
Outfielder Drew Gandee produced the only Buckhannon RBI on the evening, singling home Reed with the only Post 7 run in the bottom of the first. Reed led the Buckhannon offense, going 3-for-3 on the night.
Buckhannon (2-1) visits Clarksburg on Saturday.
le doubleheader is set for Frank Loria Field at 1:00 PM.
