Garden tours kick off June 17

June 8, 2012
The Inter-Mountain

The Pearl S. Buck Birthplace Museum will kick off its 2012 Summer Garden Tour Series at 2 p.m. June 17. Tours will be conducted by garden professionals who will discuss specific topics as they relate to the gardens and Pearl S. Buck. Attendance is free and refreshments will be served.

Organizers will have a tour that will focus on properly mulching a garden. Sam Arbogast will show attendees the techniques he uses to mulch his garden, ensuring proper nutrients and adequate weed cover are established. Through this hands-on tour, individuals will be able to see firsthand how to incorporate ideas into their own gardens. Individuals also will be on hand to discuss marketing opportunities at local farmers markets.

Started in 2010, the Pearl S. Buck Garden Project was designed as a way to utilize more of the property at the museum. More information is available at 304-653-4430.
