Gary Neil Linger, 60, of Buckhannon, died Wednesday, June 6, 2012 in Louis A. Johnson Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Clarksburg.
He was born Aug. 21, 1951, at Buckhannon, a son of the late Charles Edward and Lillian Mary Davis Linger.
On June 2, 1975, he married Rozetta H. Tenney, who survives at Buckhannon.

Also surviving are two daughters, Wendy Dawn Ward and husband, Keith, of Washington, Va., and Misty Rose Sow and husband, Cheikh, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two sons, Sammie Neil Linger and Stormy Allen Linger and wife, Crystal Dawn, all of Buckhannon; one grandson, Miguel Rylee Linger of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Leigha Roze Linger of Buckhannon; one brother, Charles Eugene "Wimpy" Linger of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two sisters, Carolyn Mason and husband, Wyman, of Steens, Miss., and Geraldine Henderson and husband, Bruce, of Buckhannon; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, John Eric Linger; one grandson, Elijah Nicholas Wyatt Linger; and one brother, Bernard Leo Linger.
Gary served two tours in Vietnam with the 1st Calvary Division and was awarded the Vietnam service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, the Republic of Vietnam campaign medal, the Gallantry Cross and two Bronze Stars. He was a diesel mechanic in the United States Army. Gary was a member of Buckhannon Church of God.
Friends will be received Sunday, June 10, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Buckhannon Church of God with Pastor Frank Spears officiating. Burial will follow in Ten Mile Baptist Cemetery in Ten Mile. Buckhannon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post 7 American Legion and Disabled American Veterans Chapters 5 and 36 will conduct Military Honors at the graveside.
