The All Veterans Memorial Council thanks everyone in the community that participated in the Memorial Day Ceremony at the monument.
The turnout was again outstanding, and we thank you one and all for helping us honor those who died defending this great nation. Their sacrifice has assured us the privilege to assemble and remember that some gave all so that those who followed could enjoy the wonderful freedoms this county gives to all of its citizens.
Thanks to all the veteran's organizations and their auxiliaries for assisting. Your continued support is appreciated. Thanks to Tomblyn Funeral Home, Mary's Greenhouse and The Inter-Mountain for the year round support. Thanks to the Downtown 0N-TRACK Promotion Committee and the Highland Adventist School. A special thanks to Alex Engelkemier, Lauren Spears and Brittany Robinson, who told us of the brave exploits of Desmond T. Doss, a U.S. Army medic who won the Medal of Honor in World War II on Okinawa by saving 75 fellow Americans. It is great having the youth of our community participate in our ceremonies. Thanks to Pastor Terry Cannon for the invocation and benediction and your words remembering our dear friend the Rev. Ronald Nestor.
Finally, we want to again thank our family and friends who are always there to help us with the upkeep of the monument throughout the year and also for helping us prepare the monument for our ceremonies. These ceremonies would not be possible without your continued support.
Hopefully we haven't forgotten anyone. If we did, we apologize and thank you, too. May God bless our community, our veterans, the men and women currently serving our country, and may God continue to bless America.
