50th anniversary

John F. and Joyce K. Maize are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary today.

The couple were married June 9, 1962, at the home of Mrs. Maize's grandfather, William Howell, on Moore Street in Elkins.

The couple began their marriage in Baltimore, Md., and after several years returned to Elkins.

Mr. Maize is the son of the late John F. Maize Jr. and the Late Charles and Doris Maize Adrain. He attended school in Baltimore. He was a professional truck driver ro 40 years driving throughout the United States and Canada. He retired from Woodford Oil Co.

Mrs. Maize is the daughter of the late Francis "Dorie" and Dovie Howell Powers. She attended school in Pocahontas and Randolph counties. She worked at the Convalescent Center on Fourth Street in Elkins and for 19 years at Davis Memorial Hospital.

They are the parents of four children, Kathy and Kenny Spencer of Buckhannon, Barbara Burge and fiance, Brian Golden, of West Milford, John F. Maize IV and wife, Debbie, of Pennsylvania, and Kenny Maize and wife, Cindy, of Norton.

They have 10 grandchildren, Callie Lynn and Cheyenne Maize, Megan Morgan and Andrew Burge, Kudora Maize, Allyssa and Tehya Maize, Teffeny Ware and Brandon Riffle. They also have nine great-grandchildren.

They will celebrate with a cookout for family.
