Some city of Elkins employees will receive a pay raise after City Council passed a resolution during a regular meeting last week.
The 55-cent raise will apply to about 60 city employees.
"This was built into the budget," said Councilman Bob Woolwine, 1st Ward, who also is chairman of the Finance Committee.
The resolution, which was passed unanimously, states that all city employees except the employees of the Police Department, Fire Department, Water Distribution Department, Sanitary Board and Parks and Recreation Commission will receive a raise of 55 cents an hour.
Councilwoman Marilynn Cuounzo, 4th Ward, who also is a Personnel Committee member, said the raise includes 60 employees in the Street Department, Police Administration, Water Plant, Sanitation Department and the Treasurer's Office. No administrative officers will receive the pay hike.
