Bowden Family Worship Center recently made a $1,000 donation to the Randolph County Homeless Shelter in Elkins and hopes other organizations will do the same to help those who use services the shelter offers.
"Our church pastor, Lynn Ryder, is challenging other area churches and organizations to match our gift for the shelter or to give whatever they can to help," said Bowden Family Worship Center member Mike Moore. "This organization assists countless individuals throughout the year who have found themselves homeless for whatever reason."
Shelter manager Cindy Hamrick said the shelter not only provides rooms and meals for the homeless, but it also offers a hand to "help these people get back on track." Hamrick also said funding for the facility is greatly needed.

Cindy Hamrick, manager of Randolph County Homeless Shelter in Elkins, receives a $1,000 check from Bowden Family Worship Center member David Moore to help provide assistance to the many individuals and families who utilize the shelter.
"This shelter is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and often it is hard to meet the demand," she said. "In recent years since the economy has fallen, we have seen an increase in the number of people coming to the shelter, and the need for more funding has increased."
Area churches, organizations and individuals who want to assist the homeless shelter can call Hamrick at 304-636-5193.
