The Upshur County Assessor's Office will soon begin review of real estate within Banks and Meade districts, along with new construction in remaining districts.
This will only include residential and commercial real estate.
The reappraisal is performed every three years, according to House Bill 4127 passed by the Legislature in 1990.
Two appraisers with identification will be traveling in a Ford explorer. Cooperation with these appraisers and the assessor's office will make this a fair and equal reappraisal.
Anyone who has questions may call the assessor's office at 304-472-4650 Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
As prescribed in West Virginia Code Chapter 11, Article 3, the assessor shall make every possible effort to accurately assess all property, real and personal. However, it is ultimately the sole responsibility of the taxpayer to ensure that they are assessed properly.
