Joseph Pete DeSantis, Sr., 70, of Montrose, formerly of Masontown, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2012, as a result of an automobile accident.
He was born in Masontown on Dec., 27, 1941, a son of the late Louis and Lucille DeSantis.
He was employed as an equipment operator at New Enterprise Limestone Mine/Quarry. He also worked for Kosmos, LoneStar and Greenbag Cement companies. Joseph was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and friends at Teter Lake and Laurel Ridge Hunting Club. He was Methodist by faith.
Joseph is survived by four sons, Joseph DeSantis Jr. of Miami, Fla, Bobby DeSantis and wife, Darlene, of Masontown, Rodney "Rubber" DeSantis of Masontown and William "Willie" DeSantis of Montrose; three grandchildren, Shayna DeSantis, Jackie DeSantis and Jesse James DeSantis; two adopted children, Steven Desantis and his son, Ethan, and Mary Hess and her daughter, Kasia; one brother, Louie DeSantis and two sisters, Jenny Hileman and husband, Jim, and Catherine Smith.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Rosemary Tripp.
Friends may call at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held at Field Funeral Home Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at 11 am with the Rev. Ray Frankhouser officiating. Interment will follow at the Masontown Cemetery.
