Buckhannon-Upshur's Brooklyn Waddell headlines the list of area players selected to the Class AAA All-State softball team released by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association on Saturday.
Wadell, a junior infielder, was selected to the All-State second team after batting .495 this season. She helped lead the Lady Buccaneers to a 25-6 overall record.
Waddell's teammate, Morgan Wright, was selected to the special honorable mention team. Wright, a senior infielder and pitcher, hit .444 this season.

Buckhannon-Upshur’s Brooklyn Waddell was named to the Class AAA All-State second team on Saturday. Waddel, shown above playing in the field during a game this season, batted .495 this season.
Wright was joined on the special honorable mention team by Elkins shortstop Jaime Miller, who had a .390 average this season.
Miller recently signed to play college softball at West Virginia Wesleyan College.
Two other Lady Tigers were selected to the honorable mention team as pitcher Michaela Lewis-Lambert and infielder Kelsi Trippett made the list.
Carly Gregory, Kelsey Wagoner and Megan Williams were honorable mention selections for Buckhannon-Upshur.
Lewis County's Hannah Simmons and Tori Riley also made the honorable mention team.
The Class AAA first team consisted of Amy Rotriga (John Marshall), Kaity Hanna (Cabell Midland), CeCe Bailey (Parkersburg South), Alli Burdette (South Charleston), Mecca Henderson (Robert C. Byrd), Kylie Howard (John Marshall), Joni Tyree (Nicholas County), Rachel Hickman (St. Albans), Alyssa Cook (Lincoln County), Morgan Kelley (Cabell Midland), Aleks Lawson (Lincoln County), Shannon Lyons (Jefferson), Sydney Kaplan (Cabell Midland), Morgan Aguirre (Logan), Alicia Noble (Robert C. Byrd), Megan Garcia (John Marshall), Katie Chryssofos (Logan) and Genna Trippett (Parkersburg South). Aquirre was named captain of the team.
