The Jane Lew Community Center renovations to meet the state fire marshal's requirements have been completed.
In celebration of the reopening of the entire facility for public use, the Community Center Board, in conjunction with the Jane Lew Lions Club, has announced an open house/ice cream social at the center from 1 to 3 p.m. June 23. The free event will feature activities for children and adults, as well as information about the services provided by the center. Ice cream and other refreshments will be available.
The Jane Lew Lions Club will provide free eye screening to test for glaucoma and vision issues. Walmart Vision Center will be cleaning lenses and adjusting frames. The Jane Lew Fire Department will demonstrate children's fire safety using its new safety trailer. The West Virginia State Police will offer fingerprinting of children as part of its child safety program. There will be a clown, balloon animals, face painting, a fish pond and many other activities for children.
Delegate Peggy Smith and Doug Parsons, director of the Lewis County Economic Development Authority, plan to attend. At 1:15 p.m., they will make a special presentation to the Community Center Board.
The town of Jane Lew has graciously helped fund the refreshments. Everyone is invited to attend this gala event and celebrate the updated facility.
