Lera Blanche Lambert Vance, 89, of Seneca Rock, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2012, in Grant County Nursing Home in Petersburg.
On April 8, 1950, she married her husband of 60 years, Burrel Vance, who preceded her in death on June 2, 2010.
She was born Aug. 20, 1922, at Dry Run, the daughter of the late Rev. E.A. and Laura Murphy Lambert.
In addition to being a mother and homemaker, with her husband, she owned and operated Vance's Roller Rink in Seneca Rocks. She was employed by Celanese Manufacturing in Cumberland, Md., was an Avon representative and was a cook at Yokum's Restaurant and Valley View Grill. She retired from the Seneca Rocks Visitor Center where she worked for the United States Forest Service.
She is survived by one daughter, Laura Richmond and husband, Michael, of Summit Point; one son, Tim Vance and wife, Angela, of Seneca Rocks; three grandchildren, Brian Mowery, Laryssa Richmond and Lauren Cooney; and five great-grandchildren, Elika, Caleb and Lyla Mowery and Aiden and Claire Cooney.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Varlie Lambert, Harold Lambert, Amis Lambert and an infant brother; and five sisters, Rea Warner, Fannie Hinkle, Bessie Bennett, Martha Hartman and an infant sister.
Mrs. Vance's family will receive friends Friday, June 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg. Pastor Barbara Rexroad and Pastor Robert Baer will officiate services Saturday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Basagic Funeral Home in Petersburg. Interment will follow in North Fork Memorial Cemetery in Riverton.
