Elkins Post 29 swept a pair of games over the weekend in the Hardball Classic at Robin Harvey Memorial Field to finish 4-1 in the tournament.
Post 29 defeated Morgantown 13-2 in Game 1 on Saturday.
James Gainer notched the win in five innings of work. He gave up two runs on five hits, walked two and struck out two.
Scott Fox, Cody Gainer and Caten Murphy all had three hits each for Elkins.
Murphy had four RBIs, while Fox had a three-run home run for Post 29.
Tyler Shreve had two hits and drove in four runs for Elkins.
Elkins defeated Buffalo (N.Y.) 12-2 in five innings in the second game Saturday.
Christian Scott (3-0) picked up the win for Elkins in five innings of work. He gave up two runs on four hits, walked four and struck out nine.
Fox had grand slam and a three- run home run to lead Post 29 at the plate in the second game.
Heath Broughton had three hits and RBI, while Colby Gainer had two hits for Elkins.
Post 29 defeated Berkeley County 8-7 in the late game Friday night.
Colby Gainer picked up the win in three innings of relief. He gave up one run on three hits, two walks and four strikeouts.
Ryne Bonnell had four hits, while Broughton had one hit and three RBIs.
Colby Gainer had two hits and RBI for Post 29.
"I think after the first game we played well," Elkins Post 29 General Manager Chris George said. "We picked up a good win against State College, we hit the ball well and our pitching was very good.
"I want to thank all the helpers and coaches at Elkins High School, Robin Harvey, Buckhannon-Upshur, Lewis County, Alderson-Broaddus, Philip Barbour and Bridgeport for their help," George added.
"We we're able to crown a champion this year with Columbia from Maryland. They were a good team and deserved to win."
