FAIRMONT - Austin Bland had two hits and drove in three runs to lead Fairmont Post 17 past Elkins 8-2 Wednesday at East Fairmont High School.
Trey Kerns and Trevor Malnick had two hits each for Post 17.
Brent Osborne notched the win for Fairmont in five innings of work. He gave up two runs on six hits, walked seven and struck out six.
Scott Fox had four hits and scored a run to lead Post 29 (10-2) at the plate.
Cody Gainer followed with two hits, while Caten Murphy chipped in with one hit and drove in two runs for Elkins.
Christian Scott scored the other run for Post 29.
James Gainer took the loss for Elkins in seven innings of work. He gave up four runs on nine hits, walked three and struck out one.
Trevor Mouser pitched one inning of relief for Post 29.
"Our pitching did well tonight," Elkins Post 29 general manager Chris George said. "We didn't get that timely hit that we needed and we left way too many people on base with 12."
Elkins visits Bridgeport today at 7 p.m. and then travels to South Charleston Saturday for a double header that begins at 4:30 p.m.
