The GFWC-WV Woman's Club of Elkins met May 15 and conducted a memorial service honoring members deceased during this club year.
The many diverse club projects have succeeded in a large part by the efforts of these members. The club honored Helen Feaster, Marie Hammer, Polly Mams and Harriett Welshonce.
Mams was a past president who worked diligently to uphold club traditions and efforts to make a difference with state and community projects.

Hammer
Welshonce was a past president and a 50-year member. An avid club historian, she was a sought-after committee member. Past presidents play an important role in mentoring new members.
Feaster, a librarian at the Elkins library, was a member who was devoted to building a collection of Pearl S. Buck books.
She saw the library go from a corner of the YMCA to the current building in 1967. From 1940 until 1967, the Woman's Club was the sole support of the library.
Hammer brought varied interests to add to the club's wealth of programs and projects. She enjoyed the companionship of her friends.
