Area volunteers recently provide a customized school tour for 50 first-graders from Upshur County’s Union Elementary School at the historic Adaland Mansion. Through the work of numerous volunteers, the children participated in an abbreviated Victorian tea and learned some of the manners practiced at such a tea, listened to popular children’s stories, took a walk on the grounds of Adaland, heard about what life was like in the late 1800s and wrote about their day. Such work, and much more, is available to anyone wanting to become a member of Adaland’s Volunteer Corps. More information is available by calling 304-457-1587 or 304-457-2415.
