BRIDGEPORT - Trey Oliverio had two hits and two RBIs to lead Bridgeport MVB past Elkins 7-2 Thursday in a five-inning contest.
Nolan Tucci added one hit, one RBI and a run scored for Bridgeport, while Tyler Skidmore had one hit and one RBI.
The game ended early due to poor weather conditions in the area.
Brady Weaver notched the win for MVB in five innings of work. He gave up two runs on four hits, walked one and struck out seven.
Heath Broughton took the loss for Post 29 (10-3) in two innings of work.
Broughton gave up three earned runs, on four hits, walked four and struck out two.
Christian Scott pitched 2 1/3 innings of relief. He gave up three runs on three hits, walked one and struck out one.
Cody Gainer had one hit, drove in a run and scored once for Post 29. Ryne Bonnell added a hit and scored the other Elkins run in the contest.
Heath Broughton and Caten Murphy had the other hits for Post 29
"We started off strong tonight," Elkins Post 29 General Manager Chris George said. "The kids need to learn how to play with adversity, after falling behind tonight they didn't do that. We need to pick up our game if we want to meet our goals."
Elkins battles South Charleston on Saturday in a 4 p.m. doubleheader at Sissonville High School.
Post 29 will return home on Monday when it entertains Clarksburg for a 7 p.m. contest at Robin Harvey Memorial Field.
