The level 4, 5 and 3 gymnasts from the local Tumble Time group recently traveled to Huntington to compete in the West Virginia State Meet. The meet was hosted by Bozhi's Gym Nest and had a Rio Carnival theme.
Sophia Shoemaker competed in the 6-year-old division and Isabelle Judy was in the 7-year-old division. Shoemaker earned second place for her 8.8 bar routine and bronze medal on beam. She finished the all-around in third place. Judy had a great beam routine that earned her third place. She finished the all-around in the sixth position.
Lexi Reger and Kristen Hicks competed in the 8-year-old group. Reger was awarded state champion on bars with a score of 9.125. She finished the all-around in second place with a 34.725. Hicks put together a beam routine that earned her fifth place. She finished the all-around in sixth place.

In the 9-year-old division were Larissa Wegman and Abbi Keller, and in the 10- to 11-year-old division were Kassie Miller and Olivia Caynor. Wegman captured a pair of silver medals for a 8.75 beam routine and a 8.95 floor routine. She also finished in second place with an all-around score of 35.550. Keller had her best vault of the season scoring an 8.95. Miller vaulted her way to a 9.0 and finished with an all-around score of 33.925. Caynor had one of her best vaults of the season scoring a 9.1.
Macy Nestor, Frankie Scott, Ani Reger and Mackenzie Holland were the level 5 gymnasts competing in the meet. Nestor and Scott were in the 9-year-old group. Nestor received fourth place for her 8.7 vault. She earned a 33.825 all-around score. Scott put together her best bar routine and vault of the season.
Reger and Holland were in the 10-year-old group. Reger had her best vault of the season, scoring an 8.3. Holland had excellent floor and beam routines.
Two gymnasts competed in the 5-year-old group. Addie Hicks earned an 8.5 on bars and 8.825 on floor. She was awarded state champion on each event. She finished the meet with a 34.525 and earned the title of West Virginia 5-year-old state champion. Katie Hicks earned a silver medal on floor with an 8.8. She finished the meet with a 33.85 all-around score and third place.
Darrah Pennington competed in the 6-year-old group, and Zayah Hedrick in the 7-year-old division. Pennington captured a silver medal for her great bar routine and a bronze on beam with a score of 8.95. She finished with a 34.3 all-around and third place. Hedrick had her best bar routine of the season with a score of 8.6 that earned her state champion. She finished fourth in the all-around with a score of 34.225.
Hanna Wegman, Olivia Myers and Kelseigh Monk all competed in the 8-year-old group. Wegman vaulted her way to a 9.0, and her floor routine scored an 8.825. She finished the all-around with a score of 34.275. Myers also had a great vault that scored an 8.9, and her beam routine scored an 8.8. She finished with an all-around score of 34.050. Monk had an excellent beam routine that scored an 8.6. She finished with an all-around of 33.2.
In the 9-year-old group were Makenzie White and Natalie Teter. White scored a 9.3 on floor that earned her a silver medal and a 9.025 on bars that got her a bronze medal. She finished the all-around in third place with a score of 36.225. Teter powered her way to an 8.7 on vault and an 8.6 on beam. She finished the all-around with a 34.1
Haleigh White competed in the 10- to 11-year-old division. She scored a 9.0 for her beam routine and an 8.65 on vault. She finished with a 34.775 all-around score.
