Anyone who wants to spend an enjoyable evening with that someone special while seeing West Virginia Mountains in the summer has a great opportunity to do so at The South Side Depot in Petersburg.
The depot will host a "West Virginia Wines and Foods SummerTime In The Mountains Dinner Train" on July 14. This unique train experience will provide a memorable outing in an area known as the HeartBeat of the Potomac Highlands.
Passengers on the "SummerTime In The Mountains Dinner Train" will begin their journey with a wine tasting of West Virginia wines at the South Side Depot from 3 to 5 p.m. Boarding for the rail excursion will begin shortly after at the depot.
The trip, which will last approximately two and a half hours, will wind along the South Branch of the Potomac River and offer riders an opportunity to view beautiful scenery as well as native wildlife, including the American Bald Eagle.
"Passengers will be able to bring the wine they purchase onto the vintage passenger train cars of the South Branch Railway, and we will be happy to serve them," said Eileen Sindledecker, proprietor of the South Side Depot. "This train is designed to provide a relaxing evening in West Virginia's beautiful mountains and will feature a variety of delicious West Virginia made food products."
The cost for the dinner train is $40 per person, and it is for adults only. Reservations are required. Each passenger will receive a stemless wine glass complimentary of the South Side Depot to commemorate the event.
