Adelene Louise "Dottie" Crawford Roach, 86, a resident of Elkins, departed this life late Saturday evening June 23, 2012, at Colonial Place in Elkins.

She was born Sunday March 14, 1926, at Elkins. She was the daughter of the late Emett and Jamika "Mae" Phares Crawford.

On Nov. 9, 1951, at Charleston, she was married to Clifford G. Roach who preceded her in death on March 7, 2001.

Surviving are a son, Frank Roach, Kearneysville; one step daughter, Sherri Ann Moody and husband, Richard, of Long Beach, Calif.; one brother, Alfred B. Crawford of Chesapeake Beach, Md.; one sister-in-law, Lilly Crawford of Elkins; five grandchildren, Julie, Greg and Rick Moody, all of California, Cindy and husband, Chance, of Maryland, Clifford J. Roach and wife, Melissa, of Virginia; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was a graduate of Elkins High School with the Class of 1944, she was a former employee of C&P Telephone Company with over 35 years of service starting in 1944 as a switchboard operator and retired in 1979 as a secretary in the business office. Dottie has been a member of the First Baptist Church of Elkins for over 73 years, of which she was very active serving as treasurer for many years and was a member of the choir for over 50 years. She was a volunteer for the Pioneers of America, Elkins Women's Club, Davis & Elkins College Aid and the Randolph County Senior Center. She enjoyed music. Dottie and Clifford were avid travelers.

The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m, Wednesday June 27, 2012. Final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel Thursday, June 28, 2012, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Marvin L. Parli will officiate and interment will follow at Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman.

The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the First Baptist Church, 412 Randolph Ave., Elkins, WV 26241.
