A Randolph County man died in a mobile home fire in the Weaver Road community early Saturday morning, officials said.
Kenneth Eugene Hedrick, 53, perished in the early morning blaze, the cause of which is still under investigation, officials said.
The mobile home, an older model, was "totally involved in flames when the first truck arrived" at about 4 a.m., Ernie George, the chief of the Coalton Volunteer Fire Department, said Monday. "It took half an hour to extinguish the blaze before we could start searching inside."
Firefighters from the Coalton, Junior, Elkins and Belington departments all responded to the scene, some working until 9:30 a.m., George said.
The fire is being investigated by the state Fire Marshal's office and the West Virginia State Police, George said. Hedrick's body was transported to Charleston for an autopsy, he said.
