Odie Wegman

Odie Marie McCauley Wegman, 96, a resident of Elkins, departed this life Monday morning, June 25, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born Saturday, July 10, 1915, at Adolph, a daughter of the late William Riley and Bertie Alice Moats McCauley.

On Nov. 26, 1931, at Elkins, she was married to Howard George Wegman, who preceded her in death during March of 1999.

Surviving are one son, Jimmy Michael Wegman, and wife Shelly, of Beverly; five daughters, Maxine Lavala Goldizen of Huntington, Carolyn Virginia Williams of Elkins, Juanita Jean Shiflett and husband, Donald, of Bayard, Cecelia Nadine Moore and husband, Jack, of Stephenson, Va., and Shirley AnnaLea Weasenforth of Beverly; 29 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and six great-great-great-grandchildren.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Preceding her in death were one son, Adam David Wegman; four brothers, Etley, Cecil, Clarence and Carl McCauley; four sisters, Myrtle, Virginia, Idress Johnson and Eunice Slayman; four grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She attended the schools of Adolph, was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1933 and was a graduate of Davis Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse at Davis Memorial Hospital, was a homemaker, loved sewing, cooking and gardening and attended New Life Fellowship Church at Glenmore.

The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel, Tuesday, July 3, at noon. The Rev. Michael House and the Rev. Homer Weasenforth Jr. will officiate and interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman.
