Elkins Kroger employees serve hot breakfast Sunday for donations to the Children’s Miracle Network. Store Manager Keith Brown said the event helped in two ways. Kroger fed community members without power who could not cook during the outage. People also could donate to the charity in what Brown called a ‘win-win situation.’

Dozens of drivers wait in line to fill their gas tanks
Saturday evening at GoMart in Elkins. Once power was
restored in late
afternoon, motorists flocked to the business. At times, the lines to enter the parking lot extended toward Fifth Street and the All Veterans Monument on Railroad Avenue.

Residents line up along U.S. 33 between Elkins and Buckhannon to get gasoline at 7-Eleven. Many area convinence stores had enough power to sell items but not to pump gas. Once electric service was restored, drivers converged on pumps.
