Mary Mattilea Hoffman, 86, of Moatsville, died Sunday, July 1, 2012, at her home following a recent illness.
She was born Jan. 1, 1926, at Grafton, a daughter of the late Gordon Dayton and Nellie Gay Alexander)Blake.
On Oct. 15, 1945, she was married to Arlin James Hoffman, who preceded her in death on June 15, 1993.

Survivors include two daughters, Susan Annalea Isner and husband, Bob, of Marietta, Ohio, and Violet R. Campbell of Moatsville; three sons, Frank James Hoffman and wife, Dorothy, and David Philip Hoffman, all of Moatsville and Gary Lee Hoffman and wife, Janet, of Belington; 12 grandchildren, Marty and Kirk Isner, Frankie Hoffman, Tammy Marsh, Jason Hoffman, Danny Herron, Lisa Shiflett, Brandi Ricottilli, Anthony and Tyler Hoffman, Craig and Jeremy Campbell; and 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Dan Tracy Hoffman; by two sisters, Ruby Agnes Reed and Evaline Haddix; by one brother, Jack Blake; and by two granddaughters, Lisa Marie Hoffman and Baby Girl Hoffman.
Mrs. Hoffman was a lifelong homemaker, mother and grandmother and was an active part of the community. She was a member of Moatsville Free Gospel Church where she served as a trustee. She was a member of the Woodmen of the World and was a gifted musician. She was treasured and will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, 385 S. Main St. in Philippi. Pastor Bryan Headley officiated and interment followed in St. John's Cemetery. Friends called Tuesday and Wednesday at the funeral home.
