Robert Richard "Fuzz" Jones, 73, a native of Elkins, and a resident of Tallahassee, Fla., since 1973, departed this life Friday, June 29, 2012, in Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.

He was born Monday, March 6, 1939 at Elkins, a son of the late Thomas Dewey and Hazel Phares Jones.

He was married to the former Linda Ball, who survives at Tallahassee, Fla. They had celebrated 49 years of marriage.

Also surviving are his four children, Rick Jones and fiancee, Cathleen Riccobono, Ryan Jones and Jeannie Beth Rivera, all of Tallahassee, Fla., and Gregg Jones, Dallas, Texas; an adopted son, Juan Laureano of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; one sister, Carol L. Erickson and husband, Carl "Shorty," of Elkins; seven grandchildren, Travis Jones, Aleah Rivera, Chase Rivera, Brayden Jones, McKenzie Jones, Fisher Dodson and Julian Dodson.

Preceding him in death are three brothers, Thomas E. "Tom," Harold N. "Fuzz" and William Allen "Pud" Jones; four sisters, Harriett De Lynn Jones, Charlotte Lynn Jones, Irene "Reeney" Kisner and Kathryn Louise Calain; and one granddaughter, Kayla Crimbley.

Mr. Jones was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1957 and Davis & Elkins College and was a coach and math teacher at Smith Junior High School in Chillicothe, Ohio following his graduation. He was a representative for Mead Paper Co. in Dayton, Ohio, for several years before beginning his career in the mortgage banking business. He was a mortgage banker in Lexington, Ky., before moving to Tallahassee and joining Commonwealth Mortgage. He also worked with Andrew Jackson Savings and Loan in Tallahassee before retiring from Capital City Bank Group in 2010.

While active and able to do so, he was an avid Seminole fan of all sports, especially football.

He and his wife traveled to many out of town events, contests and bowl games while able, and he was a loyal Seminole booster. He was also member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Tallahassee.

The family received friends at Bevis Funeral Home at Tallahassee, Fla. Monday.

A funeral service was conducted Tuesday at Fellowship Baptist Church with burial following in Tallahassee Memory Gardens.

The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the Fellowship Baptist Church, 3705 North Monroe St., Tallahassee, FL 32303 of the American Heart Association, 2851 Remington Green Circle, Tallahassee, FL 32308.
