A generous donation from Shell Wind Energy, a co-owner of the Mt. Storm Wind Energy project, is providing added incentive for participants in Run For It. A large portion of the donation will support the award purse distributed on race day, Sept. 29 during the annual Leaf Peepers Festival in Davis.
In keeping with Shell's focus on safety, part of their donation is designated to ensure that an ambulance and EMS crew is on site during the race.
Run For It proceeds benefit community organizations, projects and charities throughout the eight-county region served by Tucker Community Foundation. Teams that raise the most team sponsor support and demonstrate the best effort during the campaign are eligible for large cash awards to donate to their cause.
David Myers, operations manager at Mt. Storm Shell Wind Energy project, presents a $3,000 donation to Diane Hinkle, development director of the Tucker Community Foundation.
Cash prizes also are awarded to the First to Finish 2K walk and Fastest 5K male/female youth, adult and masters. The 2012 award purse exceeds $32,000 with more contributions expected.
Entry forms for the race, a list of registered teams and additional details are available online at www.tuckerfoundation.net or by calling the Tucker Community Foundation office at 304-478-2930 or Run For It Headquarters at 304-259-5008.
