Legion auxiliary hosts meeting

July 11, 2012
The Inter-Mountain

After a combined supper of the American Legion Post 7, Auxiliary members retired to their meeting room with President Connie Bailey calling the June meeting to order.

Acting Chaplain Marge Kleckner offered the opening prayer. Sergeant-at-Arms Katrina Myers led the pledge to the flag, followed by the reading of the preamble. Guest and past District President Roxie Nichelson installed officers for the coming year. They include President Connie Bailey; First Vice President Marge Kleckner; Second Vice President April Whitfield; Secretary/Treasurer Jessie Marsh; Chaplain Shirley Perry; Sergeant-at-Arms Katrina Myers; and historian Loretta Dawson.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The treasurer's report was given by Marsh and filed for audit.

Girls' State Committee Chair April Whitfield reported 28 girls were sponsored and attended Rhododendron Girls' State Camp at Wheeling Jesuit University in June. Bailey reported she and several others celebrated Memorial Day by attending seven dedications at various elementary schools, cemeteries and bridges. Christina Crites reported that she sent 70 handmade lap robes to Walter Reed Hospital.

Nichelson explained the benefits of some of the Auxiliary projects and offered her appreciation for the support given by the local units.

After the closing prayer, the meeting was adjourned. The next meeting was set for Tuesday.
