Elkins used a 15-hit attack and steady pitching performance from James Gainer to down Morgantown 9-4 Tuesday in American Legion baseball action at Robin Harvey Memorial Field.
Post 29, which improved to 21-7 with the victory, held a 2-1 lead early on and used a five-run outburst in the fourth inning the break the game open.
Scott Fox, who finished with three hits and three RBIs, had the big hit in the inning when he smacked a two-run shot for his 11th home run of the season. Ryne Bonnell also drove in a pair of runs in the inning with a single.

"We really gave ourselves some breathing room with a big fourth inning," Elkins general manager Chris George said. "And the best thing about it was that all of the runs we scored came with two outs."
Brennan Dettinger and Caten Murphy also finished with three hits each for Elkins. Both players knocked in a run each.
"I'm glad to see we're continuing to hit the ball pretty well," George said. "Hopefully we can keep it up going into the last couple of weeks of the regular season."
Gainer went seven innings on the hill to run his record to 3-2 on the year. Gainer scattered eight hits, struck out six and walked two. He allowed just two earned runs.
"James came out and pitched a good game for us," George said. "It was one of his best performances of the season."
Christian Scott and Dettinger both pitched one inning of relief. The two hurlers surrendered just one hit each.
Justin Miller suffered the loss for Morgantown in five inning pitched. Miller was tagged for eight runs on 12 hits. He walked four batters and struck out nine.
Trey Shreve and Justin Rosier collected two hits each to lead Post 2 at the plate. Shreve drove in a run.
Morgantown falls to 13-13-1 on the season with the loss.
Elkins will return to action today when it entertains rival Buckhannon for a 7 p.m. contest at Robin Harvey.
Post 29 cruised to an 11-2 victory in Tennerton in the only matchup between the two teams this season.
