Mr. James Alfred "Jimmy" Simmons, 49, of Pembroke Pines, Fla., and formerly of Salemburg, N.C., passed away suddenly on July 3, 2012 at his home.
Mr. Simmons was born on April 16, 1963, in Lake County, Ohio, to James Alfred and Mary Codney Simmons. He was preceded in death by his father.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and worked as a licensed electrician with Meisner Electric Co. in Florida.
He is survived by three daughters, Sasha Simmons of Elkins, Tiffani Simmons of the home and Amanda Simmons of Stark, Fla.; his mother, Mary Codney Simmons of Belington; three sisters, Yvonne Peters and husband, Truman, of Ivanhoe, N.C., Margaret Ross and husband, Kenneth, of Belington and Sara Banks of Belington; two grandchildren, Alison and Maisie Davis; two nieces, Shannon and Abigayle; and his nephew, Dewey.
A celebration of his life will be conducted with a visitation today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Butler Funeral Home in Roseboro, N.C.
