El Gran Sabor restaurant in Elkins will host a benefit for the Randolph County Community Arts Center at 5 p.m. Saturday.
The third annual El Gran Fest benefit will feature music from blues musician Ian Walters of Washington, D.C.; reso-phonic stomp rock duo Blackwater Mojo of Elkins; alternative rock and blues band The Greens of Morgantown; the soul-infused folk rock and jazz group Shane Meade & the Sound of Tampa, Fla.; and Elkins' own Junk Drums. In addition, D.J. Cheech of the Virgin Islands will demonstrate his expertise with island dance reggae throughout the evening.
"We are excited for the third annual El Gran Fest fundraiser for the Arts Center. The benefit will raise money for scholarships for students to take arts and music classes," Rob Masten, co-owner of El Gran Sabor said. "One hundred percent of the ticket sales will go to the Arts Center. The Arts Center does great work with children in Randolph County and beyond."
Beth King, executive director of the Arts Center, expressed appreciation for the support she has received from the restaurant and area musicians.
"Each year, El Gran Fest provides a big boost to our Arts in Education scholarship program," King said. "Over the last two years they have donated more than $3,300 which provides many students with reduced or free tuition to arts and music classes."
There is a cost for tickets for the music. A buffet featuring El Gran Sabor's Bobes Whole Hog BBQ will be available for an additional charge. Visit the El Gran website at elgransabor.com/ for event information.
