Fire destroys Philippi home

July 21, 2012
By Melissa Toothman Staff Writer , The Inter-Mountain

A Barbour County home was destroyed in a fire Thursday.

The fire broke out at a Philippi residence on Hacker's Creek Road off U.S. 119 around 1:15 or 1:30 p.m., and it took fire officials about three hours to put out. The residence was a mobile home with additions.

No one was hurt or injured in the fire, officials said, but the home was a total loss. The resident told fire officials on scene that he did not have insurance to cover the fire.

The Philippi Volunteer Fire Department, Belington Volunteer Fire Department and Barbour County Emergency Medical Squad responded to the scene.

Officials do not suspect foul play in the fire, but it is still under investigation.
