Seven individuals sentenced in federal court

Seven people were sentenced this week in U.S. District Court in Elkins by Chief Judge John Preston Bailey.

Lawrence Ambrose Rowe, 31, of Moorefield, was sentenced to 10 years and one month in prison to be followed by three years of supervised release, U.S. Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld II said.

Rowe pleaded guilty May 7 to conspiracy to manufacture, possession with intent to distribute and distribution of methamphetamine from the summer of 2011 to Dec. 1, 2011, in the Northern District of West Virginia.

Rowe was remanded to the custody of the U.S. marshal pending designation to federal institution.

Joshua Sperling, 34, of Moorefield, was sentenced to 41 months in prison to be followed by three years of supervised release, Ihlenfeld said.

Sperling pleaded guilty April 24 to possession of material used in the manufacture of methamphetamine on Dec. 1, 2011, in Grant County. Sperling, who is free on bond, will self-report to the designated federal institution.

These cases were investigated by the U.S. Forest Service, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Grant County Sheriff's Department, the West Virginia State Police and the Petersburg Police Department.

Richard Jason Brown, 38, of Rock Cave, was sentenced to 37 months in prison to be followed by three years of supervised release, Ihlenfeld said.

Brown pleaded guilty May 15 to possession of material used in the manufacture of methamphetamine on Sept. 18, 2011, in Upshur County. Brown, who is free on bond, will self-report to the designated federal institution.

The case was investigated by the Upshur County Sheriff's Department and the West Virginia State Police. This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen D. Warner.

Christina Jane Levin, 25, of Augusta, was sentenced to 34 months imprisonment to be followed by three years of supervised release, Ihlenfeld said.

Levin pleaded guilty May 7 to possession of material used in the manufacture of methamphetamine on Dec. 1, 2011, in Grant County. Levin, who is free on bond, will self-report to the designated federal institution.

Consuelo Bosley, 41, of Upper Tract, was sentenced 33 months imprisonment to be followed by three years of supervised release, Ihlenfeld said.

Bosley pleaded guilty May 11 to possession of pseudoephedrine to be used in the manufacture of methamphetamine on April 24, 2011, in Petersburg. Bosley, who is free on bond, will self-report to the designated federal institution.

These cases were prosecuted by Warner and investigated by the U.S. Forest Service, Homeland Security Investigations, West Virginia State Police, Pendleton County Sheriff's Department, Grant County Sheriff's Department and the Petersburg Police Department.

James Chewning, 46, of Buckhannon, was sentenced to 33 months imprisonment to be followed by three years of supervised release, Ihlenfeld said.

Chewning pleaded guilty March 26 to possession of a stolen firearm in the spring of 2010 in Upshur County. Chewning was remanded to the custody of the U.S. marshal.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Zelda E. Wesley and investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.

Jordan Michael Dunlap, 28, of Cowen, was sentenced to 37 months imprisonment to be followed by three years of supervised release, Ihlenfeld said.

Dunlap pleaded guilty March 1 to possession of stolen firearms on Sept. 30, 2011, in Cowen. Dunlap was remanded to the custody of the U.S. marshal pending designation to a federal institution.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn A. Morgan and was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
