Calvin Bailey

Calvin A. Bailey, 85, of Buckhannon, died Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at his home.

He was born July 21, 1927, in Upshur County, a son of the late Ernest Paul and Lena V. Reed Bailey.

On Nov. 10, 1949, he married Betty June Strader, who preceded him in death on May 21, 2010.

He is survived by one daughter, Connie Sue Gregory and husband, Larry; and one grandson, Shawn Hanifan and wife, Rise, all of Buckhannon.

Mr. Bailey was a retired postal worker. He was a 50-plus-year member of Franklin Lodge 7 AF & AM, a 32nd Degree Mason Scottish Rite of Clarksburg and a member of Osiris Temple of Wheeling. He was a member and past president of Upshur County Shrine Club, member of Buckhannon Chapter 18 Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Mt. Hope Water Board. He enjoyed camping with the Masonic Camping Club and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He attended Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Mr. Bailey will be sadly missed by his family and dog, Cindy.

Friends will be received today from 4 to 8 p.m. at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Joseph M. Shreve officiating. Burial will follow in Bailey Cemetery in Buckhannon. Franklin Lodge 7 AF & AM will conduct Masonic Graveside Rites.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriner's Hospital 1645 W. Eighth St., Erie, PA 16505 in memory of Calvin. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
