Bertha Virginia Riley Smith, 85, of Buckhannon, died Saturday, July 28, 2012, in Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins.
She was born July 24, 1927, at Bablin, a daughter of the late Orval and Goldie Ethel Cooper Kincaid.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard J. Smith.
Surviving are two sons, Larry Riley of Hodgesville and Melvin Riley of Lutz, Fla.; three daughters, Wilma Daugherty and husband, Bill, of Philippi, Carolene Sheets and husband, Jim, of Jane Lew and Lola Spangler of Buckhannon; two stepsons, Howard W. Smith and wife, Sandy, of Buckhannon and Charles Ray Smith of West Virginia; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Darrell Kincaid and wife, Sharon, of Jane Lew; and three sisters, Clara Shaw and husband, Rodney, of Jane Lew, Marlene Bennett and husband, John, of McWhorter and Lolarene Bacorn and husband, Bill, of Cortland, Ohio.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Estel Riley; three sisters, Breatice Boggs, Zelma Smith and Carol Lee Kincaid; one brother, Gerald Kincaid; and one stepdaughter, Nellie Mae Golden.
She was a homemaker and a member of AARP. She was a member of the Over 50 Club at Liberty Baptist Church and was an avid bowler.
Friends will be received Wednesday, Aug. 1, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev.
